Yum! I can't wait to go back. We went tonight for dinner. My fiance got the 6-inch Philly cheese steak with onions, American cheese, and the three types of peppers they offer (sport peppers, jalapenos, and banana peppers). I had the 6-inch Philly with green peppers, onions, and cheese whiz. The hoagies were soft and doughy, which was perfect, I thought. We split the fries which were crispy steak fries - yum! They were lightly seasoned with sea salt and were sooo, sooo good. It's a small place, and only two other customers came in while we were there (Wednesday at 6:30), but I bet it's pretty bumpin' during the day when the college kids pile out of class. I hope this place continues to do well!! Oh and there menu doesn't just have cheese steaks - they also had meatball subs, shrimp and fries, a gyro with tzatziki, fried zucchini, fried cheese, fries with cheese or Old Bay seasoning, you can add mushrooms to your cheese steak, and they also had some chicken sandwiches (which I pictured as chopped and on a hoagie, but I'm not sure).

Great tasting Philly style sandwich. Warning, if you dine in, you will smell like the place. Poor ventilation leaves your clothes smelling like everything that is cooked while you are dining in. If's it's nice out, get your food to go and eat outside.

If you're on the fence about whether or not to try a Philly, Colorado style, KREX Daily Deal is offering $10 worth of goodies for $5. Go check it out!

I used to live in Pennsylvania (not Philly, but close enough) and have had the real thing quite a few times. First off the buns, and therefore the sandwiches, are tiny compared to the real thing, more like a hot dog bun than a proper cheese steak bun. Secondly the meat was super finely chopped and the cheese was all mixed in with the meat, making for a gloppy mess (see photo). Thirdly, it was over $10 with a drink. The flavor wasn't too bad, but this was a classic "meh" for me. It was overly rich in a weird sort of way and didn't sit well in my stomach. I really wanted to like this place. I don't know why they can't just copy the real thing, heck, I've done it at home: semi-freeze a ribeye, slice it really thin, grill it, add American processed cheese or Cheese Whiz and grilled onions and serve on a substantial hoagie bun. I'm kind of surprised they've lasted as long as they have.

My first visit to J's Philly Steaks is probably not going to be my last. I came in for a quick lunch and ordered the Special Steak 6" with grilled Green Peppers, Onions, Mushrooms and Whiz. (Cheese Whiz - that is) It only took 5 minutes from ordering at the cash register to a delivery to my table. The Philly was pretty good, it came out hot! I had to let it cool down, which worked out fine as I ate my pickle spear. My sandwich was pretty messy, but that is to be expected with most any true Philly sandwich. As I was eating, the owner came out of the kitchen to clean tables, push in chairs, pick up trash and clean off the red plastic baskets. When I finished, the owner cleaned my table as well. I recommend a Philly here over a boring burger any day.

Philly native here. J's seems to be the only dedicated cheesesteak shop in Junction, so there's not a ton of competition. The steaks are on the light side and the meat is chopped a bit too finely. Buns are decent, but not Amoroso's, so they lose a point there. Price is pretty normal for cheesesteaks; about $9.50 or $10 for a Large (which is just a regular whole steak) with onions. The taste is just OK, definitely not like the real thing...not sure if it's the cut of beef they're using or the level of doneness, or what. Anyway, I was craving a cheesesteak on my way through, stopped here, and satisfied the craving, if not completely then at least better than I expected to in GJ. Service was friendly and the place was clean. I would come back if I had to, but I'll probably stick with Moochies in SLC as my #1 "Out West" cheesesteak shop. They're not exactly on point either, but at least the steaks there are huge and tasty. If I could give 3.5 stars to J's, I would, but I can't.

Great Philly and steak. Large enough for two to share. Fast, friendly service. Fair price.
